John grew up in a large musical family, his father being a professional musician (a master at guitar and vocals). He learned a great deal of music from his father, from his Grammy and award winning friends, and from his famous teachers/performers such as: Wayne Bergeron, Jon Faddis, Bobby Shew, and Bill Adam (who instructed both John Michael & Chris Botti).

John received his BS in Music Business and Trumpet from Elmhurst University and is a member of the ASCAP. Chicago is John’s home base when he’s not traveling.

His professional history in Chicago includes performing at all the top clubs including House of Blues, Buddy Guy’s Legends, Chicago’s Blues Fest, Joe Segal’s Chicago’s Jazz Showcase, and countless private V.I.P. events and venues.

He has also has spent much time in Los Angeles, Nashville, Memphis and World Tours performing, recording, and sharing the stage with many Grammy and award-winning singers, songwriters, and musicians. Examples include Haley Reinhart of American Idol/Post Modern Juke Box, Rolling Stones band member Sugar Blue, Bernard Purdie “The Most Recorded Drummer in the World” Guinness Book of World Records (no pun, hehe), Howard Levy-World renown genius harmonica player and founding member of Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, SwitchFoot (best gospel album, Chronicles of Narnia, etc.) and more. World tours include B.B. King’s All-Star Band, Skillet (Atlantic Records) and more.
